Kathryn Hartman fell in love with writing, which she calls “painting with words,” when introduced to poetry in the fourth grade. She continues to write inspirational, encouraging words through prose to lift people’s sprits. Her second love is photography, “another form of storytelling.” Kathryn dedicated her first book for children, The Lost Mermaid, to their ten grandchildren. Two of her stories were published in OakTara Publishers’ anthologies Falling in Love with You (“Two Green Teens”—Kathryn and Bernie’s true love story) and I Choose You (“I’ll Take Romance,” a fun, fictional romance). In Suburban Strangers, her passion was to weave threads of forgiveness, hope, and healing all throughout the stories. Kathryn speaks to women’s groups on following your dreams, no matter your age. She and her high school sweetheart, Bernie, have been married for nearly 50 years. They’ve been blessed with three sons, three daughter-in-laws, and triplets, twins, and five other grandchildren. They spend summers at a small lake in Upstate, New York, where many of the Suburban Strangers stories came to life.
